We want to show how regenerative works. Learn from our mistakes. See how thinking differently looks in action. The best way to do this is to visit us or taste the outcome or throw your own event at Three Pools

How do you measure good farming? How do we know that we have improved our farm using our processes?

The original plan was to study in detail the changes we would make to the farm. As we got into it, we realised the scale of the project was way beyond what could be effectively studied. A root cause of many of the problems within agriculture.

Each piece of land is unique and natural systems are highly complex. You can't neatly simplify what's happening to understand the whole process.

Even so, we have collected data where we can. We continue to engage with students and academics looking to study farming systems, which provide snapshots of where we're at on the regenerative journey.

Our best measure of success is in the taste of the food, the welfare of the livestock, financial resilience, and the enjoyment of those who come here.

We have had a carbon audit in 2022 - we sequestered 225% more than we emitted - but we don’t really agree with carbon counting as an environmental solution.

We have had biodiversity studies done on the farm through Gwent Wildlife Trust and Monmouthshire Meadows Group.

We’ve also collaborated with Innovation for Agriculture to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainable farming.

We are a Climate Farm Demo site.

Academics and students interested in studying sustainable farming - please get in touch, we’d love to collaborate.
