Winter is Coming
It was Tuesday morning and Three Pools was transformed by10 inches of snow overnight and the landscape was glowing white. Locals informed us it was the most snow they have seen in 7 years - an interesting start to our first winter on the farm.
With the severe snow came new challenges. Our pasture fed flock of Welsh Badger Faced sheep now required hay to eat. Luckily we had hay reserves that were cut from the land last year before we arrived.
Apart from the small changes we had to make to sheep feeding patterns, farm life continued as normal, albeit with a crisp crunch under foot.
The snow stayed at Three Pools for a week after the initial fall and with the snow melting we observed eagerly and took note of the cold and warmer pockets of the farm, which will now help with our future design plans.
